Review: The True Story of Puss 'N Boots DVD

I like to check out new DVD's for my kids - "movietime" is the only chance I get to pee by myself or take a shower.

We were recently asked to watch The True Story of Puss 'N Boots.  The movie is based on the original story of Puss 'N Boots and stars William Shatner (admittedly, the reason why I wanted to see it!).

The Chaos Twins watched the whole thing, while I was busy about the house. They report that the movie was "kinda weird" and that the characters were too mean.  Both have said that they don't want to watch it again, which surprised me.

We sat and watched it again a few days later so that I could see what they were talking about.  You know what?  It was kind of dark, the humor was a bit "off" (IMO, for a G rating) and the characters accents kept changing!  WEIRD!

In the end, the moral of the story is great - it just gets there in a bizarre way.  I am not sure I'd play it again for my kids anytime soon - but we'll keep it around and try it again when they are a bit older, perhaps.

You can view more about The True Story of Puss 'N Boots and follow them on facebook.

I received this DVD for free to facilitate this review, all opinions are my own.

Halloween Wreath

1007111346I can’t remember where I saw this tutorial recently, but I loved the look of her wreath, so I decided to make one for myself.  I never decorate the front door and that is something I have always wanted to get better about.  1007111347The wreath is nothing more than a straw form wrapped in torn pieces of muslin.  The flowers are knit material I cut in strips, ran through the sewing machine and ruffled.  I then pinned the ruffle down while wrapping it.   I am really pleased with how it came out.  The spider came from JoAnn’s.  I thought it was really cute.1007111347a

Truth be told, even though I love how it came out – the day after Halloween its going in the trash, all of it.

How our garden grows!

IMG_0428

This was my harvest from this afternoon.  I had to pull the basil because it froze last night (boo!).

Lots and lots of yummy carrots, a couple of Anaheim chiles, seeds from some greenbeans to dry for next year (I can do that, right?) and apples that The Chaos Twins got to go pick at the Mayor’s house.

I think I’m going to have to make our garden bigger.  Still going are TONS of rosemary* and thyme, a bunch of tomatoes and lots of different peppers.

*the rosemary plants are in pots – do you think that I could move them inside to keep them thru the winter and move them back out next spring?
