Truckers Pick Up Quilting and Knitting - WSJ.com

I’ve known my share of male knitters, and one of my favorite “Knitties” is a male (HI DAVE!) – and I’ve read that some of the most talented quilt designers are men.  However, I don’t think I’ve ever met a knitting/quilting trucker.  I chuckle at the thought of seeing a big burly trucker sitting in a bustling truck stop, WIP in hand, chatting with the other guys.  The Wall Street Journal shows us that these elusive creature exist, although I am sure these guys still just stay in the truck and work on their projects.    The article is linked above – my husband was sure to tell me about it, having read it in his paper while eating his sardine lunch.

Make sure things stay straight.

Measure again.  Add some tape, you know, because it helps!

Enjoy!

*I found this project posted at Knock-off-Wood.  Ana  is truly one super chick!  Thanks Ana!   I had fully intended to do this project completely on my own – but when I had to ask Xiris how to countersink a wood screw, he became interested.  He took over – but  I got to pick the wood, paint (still to be applied), make all the measurements and make sure things were square.  I think he needed the escape, work is really stressing him out – and he was so proud…

Pick my next knitting WIP!

image image image  image image image image

I am working from the stash, and the stash only.

I have the stash to do the above projects – so help me pick.  I’ve signed myself up for a knitting night at the local library, so I better have something to take with me!

So, what do you think?

Elephant, in pink organic cotton

Star Bouncy Thingy, in green stripey Felica from knitpicks

Steggie for SpacePirate, in CottonEase (thanks again Pam!)

A pair of socks (I have Vesper watermelon stripes (got any good patterns for stripes?), Sunshine yarns Harry Potter stripes (I’d go basic toe-up here), Crystal Palace Panda Cotton, maybe THIS pattern)

Rabbit for LittleMissZ and Ribbit for SpacePirate in Spud-n-Chloe

Another Sheepie or two (I did promise a new knitty friend one!)

the poll is over there ------------------------->

please let me know, and leave a comment telling me what you picked!

‘shrooms

I had the opportunity to pull out my big DSLR this past weekend, and while checking the memory card, I found these shots.  I have three lenses for this bad boy – my favorite being the macro lens.   I took these early one fall morning, after padding down the driveway in my nightgown and fuzzy slippers, and promptly laying in the wet grass.  It was a great way to introduce myself to my neighbors, don’t you think?
