{Stitchy Sunday!}

I have a feeling this will become a regular feature. I've gotten my stitching bug back again. I think it has to do with the fact that I have about 3 minutes at a time to work on something, and as much as I want to knit, I can't because I'd get it 2 or 3 stitches before someone needed me or I had to stand back up and do more dishes or cooking or cleaning! =)

Here's a little peak at a finished object. The pattern is a freebie from WeeWonderfuls. I just love her designs. So sweet. I worked this up on cream Kona Cotton, making it look like PrincessZ as best I could. Her hair is a little dark, but I like it all the same. I also changed the doll she is holding to look like her beloved Lambie. Lambie is the first thing she noticed when I showed her the project and I think she really likes it.

My favorite part is the name underneath. I did it in my own handwriting and I think it makes it so much more special.
I do have a small issue in that I am not quite sure what I will be turning this into just yet. I had originally planned on it being a stocking shaped pillow, but one should never cut fabric when one has consumed an entire bottle of red wine by themselves. =) So maybe she'll become a little doll or a patch on a bigger pillow. My dream is that it will become a feature of our holiday decorations and she'll love it and want to take it with her when she's old enough to leave home (NEVER!) in a box of homemade decorations that she'll have wonderful memories about!

One is in the works for the SpacePirate as well, and it's almost done and will most likely be featured on next week's Stitchy Sunday. The stress is getting to me here at home - and I've been working on it in bed before attempting to sleep. He's super cute too!

And since I'm showing things off:
I found these in the linen closet, at the bottom of the pillowcase pile. I had completely forgotten about them. These are my first embroidery project EVER, I think I was maybe 8 or 9 at the time. My grandmother got them for me, and I remember them taking me forever and I was sooooooooo frustrated about the french knots. I also didn't really know about carrying yarn, so you can see where I skipped from one place to another. I know it was a stamped kit, complete with floss, needle and hoop.

Like Buttons? I do!

Honestly, I never do anything with them except pick through them once and while, but I love old buttons. alot. I plan to make a Christmas wreath in buttons from my Nonnie's stash. These buttons would help that endeavor, don't you think? I think I need a ton more for the plan that is going on in my head... hmmm.

The above stash of buttons is being given away by Works in Progress. Check it out.

Have you seen this?

Pretty awesome, no?

As for life here: We've had Xiris for 5 whirlwind days. We've got an offer on the house. It's really a lowball offer, so we're not sure where to go from here. Lots of drama, but happy that we've got something to start with.

So hopefully things will be done soon!

{The Return to CornHole}

The kids, dog and I will all be packing into the car and heading back "home" to the house in CornHole this weekend.

I'm really not looking forward to it - being separated from the husband and all - but I am trying to find the positives in it all (besides, I can't possibly cry anymore about it, I'm dry).

My own comfy bed
My own shower head that actually gets soap out of my hair
The kids will have their beds back
The kids will have their own rooms again
MY STASHES

For now, I am trying to figure out how to get internet at the house without having phone or cable hooked up. I already had to deal with canceling services before contracts were out, I don't want to do that again. Any ideas for temporary internet access?

So anyway - posts will be few and far between (if the neighbors still have their router unlocked I can be evil and sneak on that way, but I'd rather not). When/If I do get online, posts may be aimed more to Xiris as a way for him to see the kids.

Oh, I hate this...

{Blossoming}

I hope you'll take a day to recognize your worth. I hope you'll look around at everything that is blossoming under your care and appreciate just how often you're succeeding, and how much you are treasured for your efforts.
These are the words of one of the most inspirational women I've come across. Tresa is so inspirational, creative, strong and so very, very brave - and I am always in awe of what she accomplishes. I'm not really sure how I found her blog in the first place, but I've followed her for some time now.

I read her post, and I teared up. She's right. I smiled. I've got two beautiful little lives blossoming and becoming their own little people.

There are days I don't feel loved in the least (even worthless, unaccomplished, lost and unrespected). There are days when I feel like I've conquered the world just because I had a shower before 9pm (or at all). There are days I want to walk out the front door and just keep going. Those days are cloudy, stormy.

But for all those days, there are even more days of bliss. Pure sunshine, warmth and happiness. Sure, I have a will-full child - but she's polite and smart and sweet (when she wants to be). She's the spitting image of her father, but she's got my stubborn streak and strong will. She'll be a wonderful young woman one day - one that can take care of herself and be proud of that fact. Yes, I have a stubborn little man who isn't talking yet (except to say Daddy!) and screams his head off at the slightest upset- but he loves to snuggle and when he grabs my finger to lead me to another room just to point at a window or ask for his bear (gurgle-snort-peeeeeeeees), I smile. I hope to be able to raise him to be a good man, respectful and proud, just like his father.

It has taken me a while - but I've begun to recognize that I am doing a good job and even though they often have really strange ways of showing it, the three most important people in my life love me, appreciate me and cherish what I am doing for them.

{Comment Issue}

I have gotten a few notes that when someone is trying to leave a comment, that the comment gets eaten.

Can all my lovely readers do me a favor and post a comment and see if things are better, please?

Let's make it fun, shall we?
Tell me 2 things you think I would find interesting. Let's see what craziness you come up with!

Thanks.

If your comment gets eaten or you have any other problems - I have an email address listed over to the right under my picture, or you can click the GTalk balloon over my head to chat with me directly (if I'm on).

{Bliss}

I got a lovely surprise Saturday morning. My husband sent me out the door bright and early with instructions to go check in at the spa across the street.

He had sneakily scheduled a facial, mani/pedi and a haircut. Of course, I feel a little guilty about it - but honestly - in the end it's worth it because I feel like a new woman. I can't even begin to tell you how awful I've felt the last few months. There is just something about nice fresh feet, nail polish and a new haircut. Oh and the kids think it's just the most awesome thing that I have blue toenails and pink fingernails. PrincessZ keeps coming up and telling me that my toes are blue...

As for the haircut, I asked for a "Kelly Clarkson Bob" and that's what I got - just a little longer, and I love it. It's different for me - I have bangs for the first time since before middle school (!!!) - but they are really long bangs, so perhaps they don't count. I am hoping that I'll be able to maintain it - I am really bad at taking care of my hair. It's tempermental, heavy and hard to deal with.

After my spa day we just goofed off together - ending at a little beach along the lake. The kids loved it and we were able to snap this sweet little picture with Xiris' BlackBerry. I love it.

{Meet Our New Addition!}

The Family at ChezCornFree is pleased to announce the addition of Edamame, the BunBun!

Just check out this wild and crazy BunBun... he's got a crazy tail and even a little tat. What a wild one, I can tell we'll have our hands full with this one!

SpacePirate found him sitting on our couch this morning, and promptly claimed him as his own little friend. He promised to love him and hug him and squeeze him!
He's quite at home already! Sharing snack with his new buddy!
I dubbed him Edamame because he's the perfect freshly shelled Edmame color. And I love saying it - it's fun!

I had alot of fun making this guy! Looking at the pictures, I need to work on making my increases/decreases tighter - but I think he'll tighten up when he gets a nice hot bath (which is bound to happen with my little ones!).

Pattern: Sophie by Ysolda
Yarn: Sediar Organic Cotton, 1.2 balls.
Mods: none!

Up next: Elijah the Elephant for PrincessZ -or perhaps- Steggie from Knitty
but I think I'll work up a small stitchery or two before deciding.
